Zaccheaus Trill Carruthers, a beloved young man who brought joy and laughter to those fortunate enough to know him, passed away on January 23, 2026, in Houston, Texas. Born on September 22, 2009, Zaccheaus was just 16 years old at the time of his passing, leaving behind a legacy of bright spirit and infectious humor.

Zaccheaus was known for his quick wit and ability to light up any room. He approached life with a playful attitude, always ready to engage with friends, play video games, and pull pranks with his siblings and friends. His love for his family was evident in the time spent creating cherished memories filled with laughter and love. As he looked forward to his summer job, Zaccheaus had a heart full of plans and promises, eager for what the future held.

He is survived by his devoted mother, Alana Dempsey, and his father, William Carruthers. Zaccheaus shared a special bond with his siblings: sister Zaccheaia Gray, sister Makiya Holmes, and brother Markayus Holmes. The love from his maternal grandmother, Eva Ross, and maternal grandfather, Alan Dempsey Sr., along with his great grandparents, Clarence Cooper and Betty Cooper, also shaped the joyful man he became. His paternal family included his grandmother, Sharlette Lawson, and grandfather, Robert Lawson, as well as numerous uncles and aunts: Shaquala Fife-Pulluaim, Tiera Taylor, Patrick Fife, Robert Carruthers, Antonio Ross, Alan Dempsey Jr., Alan Dempsey, Amari Dempsey, Fred Willis, Jasmine Ross, Vonthisha Pollard, and Jasmine Dempsey, along with an extended family of many cousins and great relatives who loved him dearly.

Zaccheaus was preceded in death by several family members, including his uncle Malik Dempsey; maternal grandfather Leroy Dempsey; maternal grandmother Zetta Mae Dempsey; great-grandfather David Ross Sr.; great-uncle Carlos Ross; cousin Derrianna Ross; great-grandmother, Dorothy Fife and great-aunt Sandra Fife.

Friends and family are invited to join in celebrating Zaccheaus's life. A viewing will be held on Monday, February 2, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM, followed by a funeral service on the same dasy, at 5:00 PM at Grace Funeral Home, located at 4910 Willowbend Blvd, Ste E, Houston, TX 77035. The family welcomes all who have been touched by Zaccheaus’s life to come and honor his memory.

Zaccheaus Trill Carruthers will be deeply missed, but the impact of his life will continue to resonate in the hearts of those he left behind.
