Wesley Calvin Morris passed away on September 2, 2026, at the age of 77. He was born on November 7, 1948 in Matthew, North Carolina. His life will be remembered with love by those who knew him and by the family who held a treasured place in his heart.

Wesley is survived by his beloved wife, Juanita Hall Morris. He also leaves behind his children, Wesley Tyrone (Dorothy) Morris, Justin (Lisa) Hall, and Dr. Trevina (Tony) Washington Nixon. His memory will continue to live on through his grandchildren M.J., Jordan, Caleb, Jade, Jalyn, Justys “Tootsie,” and Shaneda Streater; and numerous great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Annie (James) Draffin; his brothers, John and Thomas Morris; and his god-sister, Joyce Lanier. Each of them carries forward the love, memories, and lasting presence he brought into their lives.

Wes was a man whose life was deeply grounded in love. "It's all about Love". He often expressed that if something was not grounded in love, then there was truly no meaning to it. Those words were more than something he said—they reflected the way he chose to live his life and the way he cared for the people around him.

His faith and ministry were an important part of his life. It was through the ministry that Wes and his beloved wife first met many years ago, beginning a relationship that would grow into a life together filled with love, faith, and shared experiences. Wes remained devoted to serving in ministry and to living out the values that were so important to him.

Wes was also a lifelong learner and in 2016 was working toward a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Logistics. His health declined and couldn't complete it; however, he approached life with determination and a desire to continue growing, learning, and preparing for the future.

Before beginning his career as a professional truck driver, Wes honorably served his country in the United States Army. He was assigned to the Heavy Artilery Operator and was honorably discharged due to a medical condition. His service was an important chapter in his life and reflected his willingness to serve and do his part.

For more than 42 years, Wes made his living behind the wheel as an 18-wheeler truck driver. The road became a significant part of his life, taking him to countless places and introducing him to people who would become lifelong friends. Among those special friendships were William Barrett "Bama" and Brian Burgess "Coolie", whom Wes met throughout his years of driving. What began as friendships along the road became lasting bonds that continued long after the miles were behind them.

Wes was a one-of-a-kind person, and his family knew there was never quite a way to predict what he might do next. His father affectionately described him as “Wes is a mess”. Those words capture something special about his personality—a man who lived life in his own way, kept those around him guessing, and left behind memories that will bring smiles and laughter for years to come.

Above all, Wes will be remembered for his heart, his faith, his love for others, and the many lives he touched along the way. His journey was filled with service, hard work, friendship, learning, and, most importantly, love. His memory will continue to live in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Wesley Morris; his mother, Lula Viola Hudson; his daughter, Theresa Barrett; and his brothers, Nathaniel Morris and James Morris. Their memories remained part of the story of his life, and he now rests in honored remembrance alongside them.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a viewing on Friday, September 11, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Grace Funeral Home, 4910 Willowbend Blvd Suite E, Houston, TX 77035. A funeral service will follow the same day from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Grace Funeral Home. Burial will take place on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, from 1:15 PM to 1:45 PM at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038.
