With profound sadness and love, we announce the passing of Santiago Sanchez, Sr., age 60, of Alamo, Texas, who left us on November 8, 2025.
Santiago was a devoted husband, a loving father of six, and a proud grandfather. He worked tirelessly as a truck driver and was a proud business owner of his own company, Machinery & Parts—a job he embraced with dedication and commitment—and he was known by all who knew him for his kindness, his willingness to help others, and his dependable work ethic.
Santiago built a life centered on family, hard work, and community. He understood the value of showing up, of doing what needed to be done, and of being someone others could count on. His home was a place of warmth and welcome, and he was always ready with a helping hand, a quiet smile, and the assurance that you weren’t alone.
Santiago is survived by his wife of 40 years, Saturnina Zarate; five children, Santiago (Bianell Martinez) Sanchez Jr., Bertha (Jose) Alarcon, Santiago (Rubili) Sanchez Jr., Senaida (Carlos Martinez Jr.) Sanchez, Sonia (Edgar Hernandez) Sanchez; 15 grandchildren; and one great-grandson; his father, Isidoro Sanchez; his siblings, Guillermo, Juan Carlos, Sabino, Cresencio, Isidoro Jr., Bertha, Mayra, and Claudia Sanchez; and countless friends whose lives he touched simply by being himself. Though we feel the deep ache of his absence, we also carry forward the lessons his life imparted: to work with purpose, to serve with humility, and to love without hesitation.
He was preceded in death by his son Sergio Sanchez, whom he reunites with in heaven.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a viewing from 2 PM to 9 PM, with a 7 PM rosary Saturday, November 15, 2025, at McAllen Funeral Home, 512 S. 12th Street, McAllen, TX 78501. A second viewing will be held at the same location from 8 AM to 12 noon on Sunday, November 16, 2025. Cremation will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes expressions of kindness and support to one another—just as Santiago would have done.
May his memory be a blessing, and may we all strive to reflect the light he brought into our lives.
Forever missed and forever cherished.
