Nellie E. Álvarez, de 53 años, nacida el 27 de julio de 1972 en Puerto Rico, falleció el 3 de septiembre de 2025. Deja un legado que refleja una vida llena de alegría, amor y un compromiso inquebrantable con su familia y su fe.

Nellie era una persona vibrante, conocida por su gran vitalidad. Su pasión por el baile alegraba a quienes la rodeaban, y su amor por sus hijos y nietos era evidente en todo lo que hacía. Apreciaba profundamente a su familia, cultivando fuertes lazos con su hijo Carlos Emmanuel González Álvarez, sus hijas Lilliana González Álvarez, Jennifer González Álvarez y Crystal Méndez, y sus nietos Víctor, Victoria, Julián, Jamar Jr. y Jaxon.

Una devota hija y hermana, Nellie es recordada por su madre, Edna Yvette Aponte (Bienvenido Izquierdo), su hermana, Zulma Yvette Villafañe, su hermano, Juan Antonio Villafañe (María Ángela Carrillo), y su hermana, María Velázquez (Jaime Salinas). Le precedieron en la muerte su padre, Juan Álvarez Rivera, su abuela, Nellie Ramírez,  y su mejor amiga Mitsy Feliciano, quienes ocuparon un lugar especial en su corazón.

La fe de Nellie fue parte integral de su vida. Le encantaba ir a la iglesia y atesoraba la palabra de Dios. Su devoción espiritual fue una fuerza que la guió en su vida, brindándole fortaleza y resiliencia ante diversos desafíos. Profesionalmente, dedicó muchos años a servir como conductora de autobús.

Como Nellie deseaba regresar a su hogar en Puerto Rico, llevaba sus raíces en el corazón, compartiendo historias y tradiciones de su tierra natal con sus seres queridos.

El velatorio de Nellie E. Álvarez se llevará a cabo el domingo 7 de septiembre de 2025, de 12:00 p. m. a 6:00 p. m., en la Funeraria Grace, ubicada en 4910 Willowbend Blvd, Ste E, Houston, TX 77035. Posteriormente, se celebrará una Celebración de Vida de 4:00 p. m. a 5:00 p. m. en el mismo lugar.

Nellie E. Álvarez será recordada por su espíritu vibrante y su profundo amor por la familia. Su recuerdo permanecerá vivo para siempre en los corazones de quienes la acompañaron a lo largo de su vida.



Nellie E. Alvarez, 53, born on July 27, 1972, in Puerto Rico, passed away on September 3, 2025. She leaves behind a legacy that reflects a life filled with joy, love, and and unwavering commitment to her family and faith.

Nellie was a vibrant individual, known for being very full of life. Her passion for dancing brought joy to those around her, and her love for her children and grandchildren was evident in everything she did. She cherished her family deeply, nurturing strong bonds with her son Carlos Emmanuel Gonzalez Alvarez, her daughters Lilliana Gonzalez Alvarez, Jennifer Gonzalez Alvarez, and Crystal Mendez, and her grandchildren Victor, Victoria, Julian, Jamar, Jr., and Jaxon.

A devoted daughter and sister, Nellie is remembered by her mother Edna Yvette Aponte (Bienvenido Izquierdo), her sister Zulma Yvette Villafane, her brother Juan Antonio Villafane (Maria Angela Carrillo), and her sister Maria Velazquez (Jaime Salinas). She was preceded in death by her father Juan Alvarez Rivera, her grandmother Nellie Ramirez, and her best friend Mitsy Feliciano, who held special places in her heart.

Nellie's faith was an integral part of her life. She loved going to church and cherished the word of God. Her spiritual devotion was a guiding force in her life, providing her with strength and resilience through various challenges. Professionally, she dedicated many years to serving as a bus driver.

As Nellie wished to return to her home in Puerto Rico, she carried her roots in her heart, sharing stories and traditions of her homeland with her loved ones.

Visitation for Nellie E. Alvarez will be held on Sunday, September 7, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Grace Funeral Home located at 4910 Willowbend Blvd, Ste E, Houston, TX 77035. This will be followed by a Celebration of Life from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the same location.

Nellie E. Alvarez will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, her deep love for family. Her memory will forever remain alive in the hearts of those she touched throughout her life.
