Leroy Guyton, Jr., age 78, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, departed from this world on October 28, 2025, at his residence in Houston, Texas. Born on October 14, 1947, in Birmingham, Alabama, Leroy lived a rich life filled with laughter, music, and love.
Leroy was known for his great sense of humor, often sharing joy and laughter inspired by his favorite comedians, Richard Pryor and Redd Fox. His laughter resonated with all who knew him. A passionate lover of fishing, Leroy often found solace and enjoyment by the water, where he could unwind and connect with nature.
Music played a significant role in Leroy's life. He loved to sing and cherished the melodies of his favorite artist, Teddy Pendergrass, whose music provided him with comfort and joy throughout the years. Leroy was also a devoted super fan of the Dallas Cowboys, passionately supporting his team through thick and thin.
As a devoted father, Leroy is survived by his two daughters, Sherrunda Charles and Telicia Prospere. He took great pride in his role as a grandfather to Timothy Clark, II, Savon Clark, DeShundria Charles, Mithcel Prospere II, Jah'son Prospere and Techel Prospere and his heart swelled with joy for his great-grandchildren, Anaya Prospere and Christopher Adams II, and his unborn great-granddaughter, Kay'lani Prospere. Leroy’s family was of utmost importance to him, and he shared a special bond with each of them.
In addition to his immediate family, Leroy was also blessed with two loving son-in-laws, Mitchel Prospere, Sr. and Derrick Charles. Each of these individuals held a unique place in his heart, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Leroy is also remembered fondly by his sisters, Dianne Simpson and Gwender Randall, who carry forward treasured memories of their time together and the deep familial bonds they shared.
Leroy was preceded in death by his father, Leroy Guyton, and his mother, Elizabeth McFarley, as well as his sister, Joanne Barnes. Their legacy lives on in the stories and love shared by his family and friends.
A viewing in honor of Leroy will be held at Grace Funeral Home, 4910 Willowbend Blvd, Ste E, Houston, Texas, on November 8, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate his life, sharing stories and reflecting on the joy he brought into their lives.
