Pastor Elijah James Lisoyi, a devoted pastor and passionate missionary, was born on June 6th 1962, in Iboku Aro, village, in Owode Egba local Government Area of Ogun state, Nigeria, to the family of Pa James Lisoyi and madam Ayoka Lisoyi, both from Ogun state. He had his early education in Lagos at Ansarudeen Primary School and Isolo High School respectively, this was the beginning of his academic foundation and the beginning of a better life.
Pastor Elijah Lisoyi has a good upbringing and good parental care that formed his disciplined lifestyle even before he was born again, this heritage he carried with pride throughout his lifetime. From a young age, Pastor Elijah was rooted in commitment to Christ and his business. This became more evidence after his salvation when evangelism and outreaches became a lifestyle to him. His commitment to God’s work helped him find purpose early and pursued his life goal after his salvation. His passion for spiritual growth led him to The Redeemed Christian Bible College at the main campus, where he further broadened his knowledge about his make and equipped for the work of the ministry. At age 29 Pastor Elijah responded to God’s calling into full time ministry, a decision that shaped for nation and impactful. On November 1st, in the year 1991, he was joined with the love of his life in holy matrimony, Pastor Afolake Florence Lisoyi. Their union was founded on faith, love and strong partnership in ministry. They labored together from city to city and nation to nations with God proving His power in their ministry; from a village church to a city church they achieved results and left footprints everywhere they went. The quest for improvement took pastor Elijah to further his studies when he attended Granalis College, in collaboration with the advanced School of Management & Technology (ASMETECH) in Lagos, where he obtained diploma in Business Administration. As a result of his vision for nations, he moved further to the University of Liverpool for his Master Degree in Business. Pastor Elijah was a man of deep faith and complete dependence on God. It was this trust in God and zeal for his business that made him step out of his comfort zone in 2000 for a pioneering missionary work in the nation of Mozambique, and in shortest possible time they built the headquarters in Maputo, made disciples and planted churches across the nation to the glory of God. It was after this successful work that they moved to USA. Pastor Lisoyi will be remembered for visionary leadership, generous lifestyle, impactful living, a loving and caring husband and a godly father. He was privileged to have given a befitting burial to his father and mother, Pa James Lisoyi and madam Ayoka Lisoyi. Pastor Elijah transits to glory on Thursday April 30th 2026, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Sugarland, Texas (from Grass to Grace). He’s survived by his wife; Pàstor Florence Lisoyi; sons and daughter, Toluwanimi Lisoyi, Oluwatobi Lisoyi and Oluwatomisin Lisoyi Bello. May his gentle soul rest in peace.
